West Country Boat Repairs are Open – please see our news item here for details of our COVID-19 measures
West Country Boat Repairs was set up more than 20 years ago by Pete Vincent and we are now based in the Forest of Dean. We cover the whole of the South West corner of Britain, and we have many customers much further afield in the UK and abroad.
We provide quality repairs to sailing dinghies of all types, but we are particularly expert in GRP repairs to the RS and Laser classes. We can tackle repairs to rotomoulded boats too. We also undertake general refurbishment and low key TLC work on boats, as well as repairs to other GRP items – see our news page for examples.
We are approved repair centres for leading insurance companies including Noble Marine, Newton Crum, GJW, and Craftinsure. We also stock and source a wide range of second-hand boats, sails, parts and accessories.
We provide a brokerage service to help you buy or sell a boat from the UK market. This includes sourcing boats for customers abroad.
We are also often able to help with collecting and delivering boats and parts for repair and sale all over the UK, to mainland Europe and beyond.
We are dinghy repair specialists with over 20 years experience and can
carry out repairs in any material in any dinghy. We are an approved insurance repair centre and can collect and deliver.
We can touch up minor dings and scratches on the hull, refurbish your foils, replace worn ropes and rigging and fit racing upgrades. We offer a FREE leak-test for every boat. All makes of GRP sailing dinghies catered for.
In our GRP dinghy repair workshop you can learn how to; Use gelcoat and fibre glass for professional results, mend and finish small dents and holes on the hull, so that damage is invisible. We also teach how to leak-test your boat and repair foils.
We offer: one to one coaching days, small group development of 3-4 boats, club fleet training days, max 10 boats, mentoring of existing coaches and help for clubs/classes to develop a coaching strategy.
I was impressed with Pete's flexibility and presentation skills. I have had some very positive feedback. Lots of good advice , we just need to practice it !
